Policy on the Use of Mobile Phones and other Personal Electronic Devices in Kilbarron N.S.
Following on consultation with the school’s Parents Association, the Board of Management have decided on the following in relation to the use of mobile phones and other personal electronic devices:
- From the date of ratification of this policy the use of mobile phones and any other personal electronic devices as defined below is banned in our school.
- Any device that can be used to take/share photographs/videos and post such material to the internet is covered by this ban e.g. iPod Touch, iPad, Tablet etc. This list of electronic devices is not exhaustive.
- The ban covers the entire school day and includes travel to and from school on the school bus.
- The ban covers any activity organised by the school or in association with the school. This includes school tours/trips, school swimming lessons, school matches, school concerts, 6th Class retreat etc.
- Any pupil found to be in breach of this ban will have their mobile phone or other device confiscated. It will then be kept in the Principal’s Office and will only be returned to the child’s Parent(s)/Guardian(s) in person.
- The school can be contacted if necessary by phone on 067 28144 at the following times:
- Monday, Wednesday and Friday: 9.00am – 1.30pm and after 3.00pm
- Tuesday and Thursday: 9.00am – 9.20am; 11.20am – 11.30am; 1-00pm – 1.30pm; after 3.00pm.
- Outside of these times a message can be left on the school’s telephone answering service.

Further clarification on any aspect of this policy is available from the school Principal if required.
This policy was ratified by the Board of Management on 16th April 2015.
