Water Action Day 27th Jan 2015

We learnt to make a rain gauge and we put it in our school garden.

We learnt that surface tension is when the water sticks together, it is like a skin. What happened was we put a drop of water on a coin and the result was that the drop stayed together. We blew the water and it moved around the coin.

For Maths we learnt about capacity with water- we made estimates and measured water in a jug, cup, egg cup, the kettle, a tea pot and a yogurt carton.

I also loved the water quiz; it was fun doing that challenge.

We did a Water Treasure Hunt – it was great fun.

We talked about all the things we have learnt about water this month. We did a water project in our groups and wrote about the things we have learnt and the experiments we did.

Our fitness coach talked to us about how important water is for our body.

We put some oil, water, milk, vinegar and juice into tubs. We made predictions and put them into the freezer to see what will freeze.

We put oil and water in a tub together.
